Le Fleurie “Le Clos” is the wine from the historic Clos du Château des Bachelards. Entirely surrounded by walls for almost a thousand years, Le Clos des Bachelards has the same surface area as Romanée Conti, i.e. 1 hectare and 80 ares, and produces an exceptional wine. Its terroir is in a class of its own. The other adjoining plots do not produce the same grapes. The terroir is made up of pink granite and decomposed feldspar with marl and blue clay, which gives it its originality and is found nowhere else in the region. All this is enhanced by certified organic and biodynamic viticulture, which preserves its incomparable naturalness.

With this great vintage, Alexandra creates a wine close to perfection. The critics are unanimous. The substance of this wine is impressive, its texture and density reveal an exceptional wine which reveals itself with incomparable depth. A wine to absolutely discover, which will delight the finest palates. The 2018 vintage offers a relatively dark color, with an intense and brilliant garnet color. The nose reveals itself subtly with fresh flowers, nicely joined by fresh small fruits. On the palate, the attack impresses with its density, its finesse and reveals itself with a depth set with notes of violets and fresh raspberries supported by a hint of spices. The texture of this wine is unparalleled elegance with stunning velvety tannins. The length is simply endless...A wine resolutely designed for aging, which can just as easily be enjoyed now thanks to its extraordinary personality. Renowned critic James Suckling declares this 2018 vintage to be the best Beaujolais he has tasted, and that this wine redefines what the entire region is capable of. It’s hard to give a better comment!

Stunning nose of red fruit and a whole florist store of flowers. So deep and so subtle, the major concentration of tannins on the palate wrapped in the finest velvet. Super long finish with some real mystery, pulling you back inexorably for more of this gamay elixir! From bio dynamically grown grapes. A wine of great sophistication, the nose is intense with wild berry fruits, black earth, pepper, and violet flowers. On the palate there is great finesse with a minerality of graphite, a firm texture, and an expressive finish with fine tannin.

International Critic Ratings:

97/100 James Suckling

Cellaring Potential:

Whilst we can indeed enjoy the wine today, this wine will continue to improve in the bottle. Due to It's Pinot Character and powerful structure, we have no doubt that this will age gracefully. Already a top wines now, it will reward those who wait tenfold.

Food Pairing:

Duck, Quail, partridge and other bird would work wonders. Will also pai perfectly with rabbit, chicken and turkey. Beaujolais Cru is often brought our at Christmastime due to the easy character and food pairings, but we suggest only sharing this wine with those who are really close to you. So wait for annoying old aunty Julia to leave before opening a bottle.
