Approachable, elegant and layered. Whilst 2020 was know for super-structred wines, Chateau Angludet have managed to balance the power of the vintage with elegance and charm.
The late Peter Sichel purchased d'Angludet in 1961 and it became his home for the next 37 years. The vineyards and cuverie, situated in Margaux, were in a deplorable condition when Sichel took over and it is due to his sheer will and determination that d`Angludet enjoys its high reputation today. Whilst Château d`Angludet is a Cru Bourgeois property, it regularly produces wines of grand cru classé quality.
D'Angludet is located in the Margaux appellation and its vineyards are situated at the 3-way intersection of the Cantenac, Arsac and Labarde communes. Surrounded by all the iconic names, this wine is very elegant indeed. Offering some decent bottle age, this wine is very well priced considering the quality it offers. The classic Bordeaux red wine blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, this is certainly a wine that whilst somewhat ready for drinking now, it will also able to be cellared for several years to come.
Lively, fresh aroma with the fruit at the forefront instead of oak (which is a good thing). Delicious flavours of Cassis, blackberry and some red-plum sweetness, which comes through on the palate. Not particularly intense but harmonious and elegant, with finely layered dry tannins. Definitely one of the more approachable and digestible Margaux 2020s we have tasted. Hint of chocolate and cocoa on the finish
