This is savoury, fleshy & refined - ALter Ego at its best

With the idea of producing a wine that shows another facet to the estate at Chateau Palmer, Alter Ego is led by the same high standards that govern the composition of Château Palmer's great wine.
The 2019 Alter Ego has a gorgeous fragrance, so expressive and open, scented with red cherries, strawberries and floral notes, violets, irises and roses. Powerful on the palate, clearly ripe black berry fruit but encased in lacy tannins with such appealing juiciness. Playful and so enjoyable, clean, pure, energetic with lively acidity, chalky edges and spicing throughout. Classy and well constructed with refinement. Really quite moreish even now but still delivering power and the Margaux charm.
We perfectly agree with Decanter's description "Cinnamon spice on the nose, with a patisserie edge to the fruits that gives a rich, creamy impression. As ever with the Palmer stable of wines, you can pick out the individual flavours clearly, with careful and precise delineation of cassis, bilberry, slate and tobacco notes, but overall this is an outstanding Alter Ego that puts the emphasis on pleasure. Tannins are extremely precise but feathery and pliable. An extremely low 37ppm of SO2 at this stage, in keeping with biodynamic principles and a desire to let the fruit speak"

Ready to drink, but will continue to develop and improve till 2045
We suggest decanting for 2 to 3 hours in wide-bottom decanter to reveal the complexity and savoury aspects of this complex wine.
Would pair perfectly with meaty steaks, herb-crusted Roasts of Lamb, Beef Pot Roasts, and Grilled Lamb Chops.
