Since the 19th century, the estate's raison d'être has been to fashion long-lasting wines, built to age over a century and this 1985 sticks true to that ethos.

The Riserva is aged 36 months in Slavonian oak casks. The basic characteristic of the Brunello of Greppo Biondi Santi is its longevity, even over a hundred years.
To allow the flavour to fully unfold, the bottle should be opened and a bit of wine poured out at least 8 hours before drinking."

Wine Spectator places the 1982 vintage in the Top 100 of the 1988, 'Cellar Selection' Sharply focused, tightly wound, powerful, elegant and tannic, but cut with a laser beam of raspberry and red cherry flavour; bracing acidity on the finish.

The late great Franco Biondi Santi always said he wanted to make wines that were never old enough to drink, and the 1982 Riserva illustrates how long-aging, cellar-worthy and infinitely beautiful his wines were. To enjoy a Biondi-Santi Brunello as Franco would, slowly aerate it before drinking: uncork the wine, pour out about an ounce or two to increase the air-to-wine ratio in the bottle, and let the wine breathe slowly for approximately eight hours. Then, take your time to enjoy each and every sip.

Here at Vintage82, we tasted the 1982 and the wine is ethereal! The incredibly complex flavours gave us goose bumps - a never- ending delight that is hard to put into words.
